Our Programs
Junior Scullers
Chicago Community Sculling offers access to 100% free, year-round rowing programming. The Winter session consists of indoor row coaching, strength training and erging competitions. The Spring/Summer/Early Fall season consists of “on the water” training, strength training and regatta competitions. We also beleive in a holistic approach to each young rower and support them with mentoring, Summer camps, educational opportunties, field trips, and more.
We currently operate programming in partnership with Altus Academy and Chicago Hope Academy.
Altus Academy is an independent, nonprofit, elementary school that provides a tuition-free college preparatory education for families. They aim to serve students from historical minority groups, low-income households, and some of the most challenging neighborhoods and communities in the Chicago area.
Chicago Hope Academy is a college preparatory high school in a welcoming environment that empowers students to achieve their full potential. Hope aims to provide an excellent and affordable education to motivated Chicagoland families. They do so through three core programatic elements of Spiritual Life, Academics, and Athletics.
Contact Colleen Egan, our Executive Director (colleen@chicagocommunitysculling.org) for more information on how to bring rowing to your school or community.
Masters and Competitive Scullers
Chicago is fortunate to have many masters and several high performance rowers residing in Chicago who need a site on the river to train. These athletes benefit from the ability to row longer distances and bring awareness to the city. CCSI aims to eventually incorporate masters sculling into regular programming. There are many Chicagoland master rowers who volunteer their time with Chicago Community Sculling.
